14k Gold Electroplated Brass
with Anti-Tarnish Coating
The glow-getter with standards.
BloomBelles brass pieces use 14k gold electroplating, a process that uses an electrical current to deposit real 14k gold onto the brass surface.
But what does “electroplated” actually mean?
Not all gold-coloured jewelry is finished the same way.
Gold electroplating uses an electrical current to deposit real gold onto the surface of another metal in a controlled, even layer.
Instead of simply giving a piece a gold colour or decorative surface finish, electroplating deposits actual gold onto the brass base. The process allows the gold to be applied in a controlled and uniform coating with good adhesion to the metal underneath.
Why does that matter?
It gives the finished jewelry the smooth, consistent gold finish we're looking for while putting real 14k gold at the surface of the piece.
And we don't stop there. Our 14k gold electroplated brass pieces are also finished with a protective anti-tarnish coating designed to help slow oxidation and protect the gold finish from everyday exposure.
In plain English?
There's more happening underneath that pretty gold finish: real 14k gold, a controlled electroplated coating, and an added protective anti-tarnish layer. It's our way of giving fashion jewelry a little more staying power.
It's still plated jewelry, not solid gold, so the finish can naturally change with time and wear. Proper care makes a big difference in how beautifully your jewelry ages.
Basically, we're aiming for more “where did you get that?” and less “where did the gold go?”
Care:
- Keep it dry when possible. Occasional contact with water isn't an emergency, but less moisture means longer-lasting shine.
- Perfume, lotion & hairspray come first. Let them dry before putting on your jewelry.
- Wipe gently after wear. A soft, dry cloth is all you need.
- Store somewhere clean and dry. A pouch or jewelry box is perfect. Your steamy bathroom is not.
Treat it gently and it'll love you longer. ♡
Gold-Plated Stainless Steel
The tough but tender type.
Stainless steel makes a durable, corrosion-resistant base for everyday jewelry. Add a gold-plated finish and you get the warm gold look we love with the strength of stainless steel underneath.
But remember: the steel may be tough, but the gold finish still deserves some kindness.
Care:
- Keep it dry when you can. A splash won't cause a jewelry emergency, but repeated water exposure can shorten the life of the plated finish.
- Skip the pool and ocean. Chlorine, salt and chemicals aren't invited.
- Remove for sweaty workouts. Sweat and jewelry don't need to become best friends.
- Wipe after wear. Use a soft, dry cloth.
- Store dry and separately. This helps protect the finish from moisture and scratches.
Built for real life. Still deserving of a little TLC.
Gold Vermeil / Gold-Plated Sterling Silver
The sensitive sweetheart.
These pieces use sterling silver beneath their gold finish, giving you a precious-metal base with the warm look of gold.
Because sterling silver can naturally tarnish and plated finishes can wear over time, these pieces appreciate a little extra care.
Care:
- Keep it away from water when possible.
- Put jewelry on after lotions, perfume and sprays have dried.
- Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. Skip abrasive cleaners and scrubbing.
- Store somewhere dry and protected. An individual pouch or jewelry box is ideal.
Gentle care goes a long way. ♡
